about

From Galicia, Spain, Sumrrá is the jazz trio of pianist Manuel Gutierrez, double bass player Xacobe Martínez Antelo and drummer L.A.R. Legitimate. Undoubtedly one of the most interesting jazz trios on the Spanish jazz scene. In their concerts they show a truly unique and characteristic sound, full of strength and drama and accompanied by large doses of technique, lyricism, swing and even humour.
Despite forming as a band almost informally back in the summer of 2000, today these three magnificent musicians have built one of the most solid proposals in current jazz. A unique, original, creative music and above all with a lot of freedom and improvisation.
In addition to its many concerts given in Galicia and the rest of the Iberian Peninsula, Sumrrá has also received a great response internationally on its many tours: Bolivia, Portugal, Bulgaria, France, Morocco, South Korea, South Africa, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, China, Nicaragua.....
With her new and sixth album, “6 Mulleres”, Sumrrá pays tribute to 6 powerful women who were and continue to be a source of inspiration for the fight for a better future for all humanity: Frida Kahlo from Mexico, Rosa Parks from America, Rosalía de Castro from Spain, Quin Jin from China, Malala Yousafsai from Pakistan and Nawal El-Saadawi from Egypt.
Sumrrá 6 Mujeres is a contribution to the feminist struggle from the contemporary music of the 21st century.
